In the early design stages, design parameters are often known while ideas are often vague. Sketching is an important tool as it accommodates a degree of imprecision while helping one to concretize fragmentary thoughts and to reflect. Sketches can be rapidly reworked, coloured in and areas or items prioritized by using different line thicknesses.

 

 

In a multi-touch environment, gestures and pen-input are recognised, making it possible to work in a familiar and intuitive manner. We have developed such a system in prototype form for the semantic description and research of floor plans based on raster graphics.
